Kate & Adam

On the 27th of August, I travelled down to the beautiful Old Rectory Hotel in Llangattock for Kate & Adam’s wedding.  I had been here a few months previously for their pre-wedding shoot.

This was such a lovely wedding to photograph – largely because of the emotion on the day.  Both Kate’s Dad and Adam nearly made me cry!  The marquee was stunning as well – try and spot the photo of their seating plan … coolest I’ve seen yet!  I was so impressed to see how much thought Kate & Adam had put into entertaining their guests.  There were games, huge selfie sticks, a sweetie bar, a magician and more!  All in all, things went smoothly and a big thanks for that is to go to the epic wedding co-ordinator Cameron Thomas … nothing gets past him!

Everyone I got to speak to were so lovely – a real genuinely friendly bunch – and I got to see some familiar faces from a wedding I did a few years ago which was really nice.

Kate & Adam, you have been such a delightful couple to work for.  It was wonderful to see moments of real closeness and adoration between you both. A wedding like yours reminds me what an honour it is to be a part of such a special day and to capture those memories.  So, I hope you enjoy looking back through these and I do wish you all the best together in your future as husband and wife!

Gemma & Calvin

On the 6th of August, I had the pleasure of photographing a local wedding for Gemma and Calvin in the town of Presteigne.

When I arrived at the family home, the bridal party were well underway in getting ready and to my delight, my lovely local beautician Elaine from Elaine’s Beauty Spot was doing up the bride (she looked gorgeous may I add)!

It was a really chilled morning in truth.  I had plenty of time to wander round taking detail shots of Gemma’s accessories and the lovely marquee set up on their home turf.  At one point I was photographing the earrings outside and a tiny bird flew onto my hair atop my head thinking it was a nest, I guess (that’s when I know I gotta go to the hairdressers!). I did love that the garden was teeming with life and flowers though – it was stunning.  The family had worked tirelessly to get their rather large garden ready for the wedding – it was decked out with a bar, a sweetie shack, giant games … the lot.

The ceremony was held at the quaint little church of Discoed on the border of Powys with a prosecco reception afterwards! I was very grateful that the owners of the beautiful homes next to the church let us use their properties as a backdrop for group shots – a wonderful example of old British architecture.

Anyways, before I bore you all to tears with my ramblings, I hope you enjoy looking though my photos.  Look out for the football playing Granny – she was so cool!

Many congratulations Gemma & Calvin.  It was such a beautiful day and a joy to photograph you and your lovely family!

Melissa & Matthew

This past weekend on the 30th of July, I travelled to the scenic hamlet of Dolfor where Melissa and Matthew were getting married!

Both families are from the farming community, so I knew this was going to be a big one…and indeed it was!  Thankfully they had a majestic marquee from our local supplier accasion marquees to cater for the numbers!  I loved that it had clear windows overlooking the breathtaking scenery of the welsh countryside.  They couldn’t have chosen a better spot!

We were positioned in one of their fields, which was just a stones throw away from the barns.  Now, when I met up with Matthew and Melissa previously to discuss photo locations, I saw the bales of hay, all laid out to dry.  I asked whether they’d mind keeping the bales as they were and not stack them … they may have thought I was crazy at the time … but I love the couples shots in the barn!  These scenes would be something rather ordinary to those growing up on a farm but there’s a real rustic beauty that surrounds these places and I hope you’ll agree!  I was extremely impressed that when it came to taking these photos – Melissa jumped up on a trailer, slipped off her shoes and clambered up on the bales, bouncing from one to the other like she wasn’t in a huge wedding dress, but a little girl again at play!

Congratulations Melissa & Matthew, you had a beautiful wedding and I wish you every happiness for your future together.
